A few months ago Boots ran a promotion where if you bought two products from the Collection range, you could pick up a Velvet Kiss Moisturising Lip Cream for free. That’s when my love for these started. Since then I have purchased three other shades, and still have my original freebie so I thought I would share with you the colours I own, and what I think.
Lets take a look at the colours I own –
First up – Rosie – A gorgeous cherry red.
Secondly – Cotton Candy – a warm toned pink
Next up – Caramel – A brown toned nude
Finally – Dream boat – Caramels Pink toned sister (my personal fave, this is one is very much a “your lips but better” shade)
So what do I think?
Obviously I like these, I wouldn’t buy them if I didn’t. They have a thick, creamy whipped texture to them that glides on to the lips. But that doesn’t mean they are the perfect lip product.
What I like –
They are super creamy, light weight and non drying. The clue is in the name, these really do have a moisturising property to them.
They feel like nothing on the lips but have a nice level of pigment to them.
They leave a lovely matte finish to the lips
They are crazy affordable
What I don’t like –
Some of the shades can come off as patchy when applied. Now, these are marketed as ‘buildable colour’ and some of the shades definitely need to be built up. But that can easily be done. These aren’t really a one swipe and done lip product
They seem to dry up super quickly. Its either that, or they aren’t filled correctly. I feel like I only get a few uses out of these and then I’m fighting to get the product out.
The colour range available is a bit sparse. I mean, it has all the basics – a red, a deep purple and a bunch of nudes but I think it could do with a few more shades so that it caters towards a bigger range of skin tones.
They aren’t the longest lasting product on the market.
Would I recommend them?
I would yeah, I like them, I really do. They are super comfortable and really affordable, the colours are super pretty if your willing to spend an extra few seconds on the application.
Where can you buy them?
You can pick these up for £2.99 at any retailer that stocks Collection products. (Boots, Superdrug, etc)
What do you think? Have you tried these? If not, would you? Leave me a comment and let me know 🙂
