Review – Dermalogica Calm Water Gel

A few weeks ago I ran out of my Day Cream and in searching through my drawer of makeup/skincare samples I came across a full size tube of the Dermalogica Calm Water Gel from a recent limited edition Birchbox and decided to give it a try.

I have been using it daily for about 2 weeks now and wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Weightless water-gel moisturiser hydrates dry, sensitive skin. Refreshing gel formula transforms into a skin-quenching fluid upon application, forming a weightless barrier against environmental assault” –

The name ‘Water Gel’ is really accurate for this product as it starts out as a thick gel, but melts down into a thin liquid that isn’t heavy and sinks straight into the skin leaving it feeling hydrated and healthy. The gel features Hyaluronic Acid, Apple Fruit Extract, Glycerin and Cactus Pear Extract to help soothe, hydrate, soften and lock in moisture.

I let this sit for about 30 seconds whilst I apply eye cream and lip balm before applying my makeup over the top and I have found no issues with the way makeup applies over top of this. It sits on top beautifully, and doesn’t move around or crease.

Another perk this moisturiser smells like a grown up Sudocrem (My go-to cream for literally anything.. Got a spot? Sudocrem. Got a cut? Sudocrem. Been bitten? Sudocrem. You get the point.. Side note, Don’t use Sudocrem on tattoos! The antiseptic properties will strip the colour out of the tattoo) As part of its calming properties this gel has Lavender extract which also features in Sudocrem which is why they have a similar scent.

Overall I have been super impressed with this product, and would seriously considering buying it again. My skin loves it and thats enough to make me want to buy it again, plus with the way this melts into a liquid you don’t actually need a lot of product, so I think this tube will last quite a while.

You can pick this up fromĀ and I would highly recommend trying it!

Talk to you soon!
