Review – Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara

Taking a break from what was turning into “hair week”, today I have a mascara review.

If you saw my recent ASOS x Bobbi Brown box post, you’ll know that it included a little baby Smokey Eye Mascara. I decided after about a week of owning to bite the bullet and give it a go.

The mascara claims to lengthen, thicken and fan out lashes for a dramatic look. It features a creamy kohl black pigment and claims to be build-able, long lasting and none flaking.

The wand is natural bristle, and is long and straight. There is a tiny taper to the wand, but right at the very end of the wand. The bristles are nicely packed, and spread out enough to create even coverage.

But how does it perform on the eyes?

After Two Coats

I don’t know what it is about this mascara, but I just don’t like this mascara. In the pictures it looks quite impressive, but in reality I don’t think it has enough pigment to make this mascara as dramatic as I think it wants to be. From a distance (and by distance I mean like talking distance) the mascara might as well not be there because it comes quite faint in comparison to the really dark black mascaras.

The wand just doesn’t really do anything spectacular either. I mean, it coats the lashes with product, and I guess it does lengthen them, but its quite clumpy and you have to work to keep the lashes separated, other than the length, the mascara is pretty ‘Meh’. I just really wasn’t wowed by this and I think for the price you would pay for this in full, it’s really disappointing.

I’m sorry to be so negative about a product, but its the honest truth.. for me this mascara is just a bit “Meh”

I hope this helps a little if you are looking for a new mascara to try out.. I actually wouldn’t recommend it.
