Before we start, This isn’t going to be a full hair care routine, just the things I use to keep my hair soft, hydrated, and my blonde.. well blonde.
If you saw last weeks post where I talked about bleaching my hair at home, you’ll know that I have blonde hair. I am naturally a dark brunette, I had really blonde hair up until around November 2017 when I decided to go back brunette, and I immediately regretted it and wanted to go back blonde so have spent the past year, adding more and more blonde to my hair before biting the bullet and having it all bleached in August before Ben and I went to London.
My hair this time round hasn’t quite gotten to the shade of blonde I wanted it to be, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like the colour, I think it suits me more than my natural colour and I just enjoy being a blonde a bit more.
This is my hair as it is now. I am happy with the colour of it after bleaching it last week, and I am happy with the length. I do think that my stylist cut my layers a little bit short last time I had it cut but its okay, because I trust they will grow out and next time I have a trim I will just make sure to tell her not to cut my layers.
My currently daily shampoo is this one by John Frieda. This shampoos helps to ‘reactivate’ and define highlights, whether they are natural or dyed like mine are. Because I have bleached my hair slowly I do have a lot of highlights due to some parts being bleached more than others, so this shampoo helps to define them. It has Avocado Oil in it which helps to keep hair hydrated and soft with the colour looking vibrant and fresh.
As mentioned, the first shampoo is my daily one, this purple shampoo is the one I use a couple times a week as a sort of treatment for my colour. I use quite a lot of this to ensure my hair is fully saturated and then leave it on for around 5 minutes before rinsing it clean. This and other purple shampoos help to neutralise the brassy, yellow/orange tones left behind by bleaching which keeps my colour looking its best. This one is nice because it really cleans the hair as well as treats the colour. My hair is left soft, shiny and easy to manage.
Once a week I use a deep treatment mask, not always this one but this is the one I have been using recently. Masks are great for adding extra moisture and nourishment to the hair that can be lost over the week, and helps to repair any damage that may have been caused by heat.
I coat my hair and leave it on for several minutes before rinsing it out. My hair doesn’t like conditioner, I always find my hair really flat and lifeless if I use conditioner too often but a good mask once a week is enough to keep my hair at its best.
So there we go.. The three main things I use on my hair to keep my colour looking its best.
