A couple of days ago I headed out to the salon to get my hair cut, and my colour refreshed.
I haven’t had my hair cut since January when I posted my last “I had my hair cut” post, I’m not someone who overly enjoys going to the salon, so I usually go, have loads cut off, let it grow out, go, have loads cut off, let it grow out. It’s just who I am as a person.
The reason I wanted to have it cut again this time is that, recently I had dyed my hair red, but the colour was just dropping out, and it was more prominent in certain areas, which meant I had to keep dying it, or risk walking around with giant patches of brown in my hair.
I concluded that the reason for this was A) Red fades quickly, I knew this going in but B) where my hair had previously been bleached to blonde was having a hard time keeping the colour so my plan was to cut away anything that was previously blonde.
This is how I looked before my appointment
My hair was just past my shoulders, but was in need of a cut. I had been kinda like.. trimming it myself, adding a few layers here and there, and just keeping my fringe in check during the time away from the salon, but it needed the help of a professional.
I went to the salon and was handed the colour book to pick from. My stylist uses Matrix Colours and we went for a 6RR+ with a booster so that I had a nice rich base when the booster faded.
During the colouring.
There was no doubting, it was definitely red. I was excited because the box dyes are just never this red.
After the colour, the shampoo and the cut, it was time to head home and put some makeup on.
I was stood near the window to get the full effect of the red.
I will say I think my stylist got a little too snip happy with the layers, but it was needed to get rid of the blonde. I actually love this length, its slightly inverted so its shorter at the back, and I think I might keep going back and having it shaped instead of letting it grow out again.
What do you guys think? Keep it short, or let it grow? Let me know in the comments!
That’s it for today’s post. Hope you enjoyed it.
Talk to you soon!
